2009 "The First Love"- Galería Marimón

We didn’t know each other, she has explained nothing of her past, I find myself in front of a blank piece of paper influenced only by her paintings, the representation of an intimate universe which explodes in front of me creating a feeling of interest, of surprise, of anxiety to enter a territory that I sense to be rich and sensitive. I like what I see and I love what lies behind it. When you are placed in front of a piece of art, well settled, what you see is not exactly an element with materials, what you capture are energies, powers, impulses, vibrations, tremors, shivers… I could speak about sketches which are lines of life, or of colours, which in this case are breaths of the feelings of the soul, or of the liturgies which hint at the titles of the paintings. I wanted to speak about Art, about Sensibility, about Beauty. I say ROX  (Xavier Abraham)

2007 "Dreamt Worlds, Lived Worlds, Worlds"- Casal Balaguer

I have visited the studio, in a remote street of the old quarter of Palma, of the artist Rox and I have been able to follow the process through which she creates her paintings, how the images are formed on her canvases. Rox builds her works with the matter out of which dreams are made, human matter, after all. She says that her paintings are shaped like an engagement diary, where the fevers and fears of life appear. A matter constructed from desire, betrayal, pain, freedom, love and failure. A black line drives the rhythm, but we might have got lost in a labyrinth. Rox explores unknown techniques of expression and experiments with textures. It is surprising and admirable to observe how she harmonizes the colours: the blues, the whites, the reds. She gets carried away with the game of forms and plays with the sand, by the island’s sea. Rox knows that waves wash away these signs. In the meantime, she paints the memory of the signs: the reminder of sadness. (Gabriel Janer Manila)

2006 "Blue"- Misericordia

When Rox came up with the title Blau for her exhibition, the sky and the ocean where in her thoughts. In her paintings the salted sea takes the form of the mythical Poseidon giant and at the same time it decomposes into small particles to signify that within the immensness of the sea there are other fragmented mysteries. She experiments with all sorts of materials: sand, stones, sponges, pigments, ropes, paper. Her painting "Tale" is a crafty work within which the artist sticks pages from a book that she brought back from Munich onto the canvas and stamps various images in the form of a sponge on top: "You know that whe you squeeze a sponge with your hands a lot more comes out than what can be seen at first sight", admits Mena. Admirer of Pollock, she admits that in her eyes the interpretation of art has to be free, "I dont like telling people what they are supposed to see or what they should feel. In the same way, I don't want my works to be classified into a certain movement", she says. The fluidity is another of the strengths of this young artist, with which she achieves a special celestial light on her canvases. 2006 "Letters with Soul"- Misericordia

At the age of 16 I left Mallorca to go and study in England. I believe this has been one of the best decisions that I have made in my life. However, being away from family and friends was never easy.During the four years that I have been living in England I have had the chance to meet some amazing new people. It was particularly at boarding school where I discovered just how strong friendships can be. Friends may come and go but there are some that I will never forget (Claire, Beth, Danielle, Kat). The fact that I constantly fly from Mallorca to England means that wherever I am, there is always someone missing. This is how this exhibition has come about. I bought myself a little notebook and when I missed someone I wrote about what made them special and the reasons why they were so important to me.Every painting in this exhibition represents my feelings towards a person in particular and I used the first letter from their name to show this. By doing so I somehow felt closer to them while I was painting. Its my little way of showing them just how important they are to me and how they make me feel. (Rox)

2005 "Evolution" - Sant Antoniet Cloister

Lately young artists have tended towards abstract in their creations. Rox is an example of this tendency. Between the columns that for the egg shaped cloister of Sant Antoniet you can get a glimpse of the warm colours of the creations of the young artist. Her source of inspiration is nature. "I am interested in natural things, that is why I include sand in my painitngs", so the young nineteen year old explains. Rox spends a great part of her life in England but she takes advantage of her holidays to relax on the island. In this change of atmospheres is where the "evolution" of her paintings is created. "I look for the contrast between the tension of the red, which describes my stay in England, with the calmness of the sand which derives from my holidays in Palma", comments the young artist. Her paintings are oils on canvas, in which she introduces sand and rope to counteract the "movement" of her outlines. She admits that "before I used to plan my paintings with sketches but now I simply improvise". I put the canvas infront of me and I simply paint", she confeses. . (Ana Vega)
